Marié Nobematsu-Le Gassic was born in Berkeley, CA. (1995) and raised between San Francisco and Tokyo. Since earning a B.A. Urban Design & Architecture Studies (2018) from New York University, Marié moved to Berlin to participate in a year-long studio residency at the Berlin Art Institute (BAI) and as a guest student at Weißensee Kunsthochschule, where she will continue urban research projects, as well as photography and sculpture works. Her film photography takes on a particular interest how various materials behave in certain environments, while 3D concepts, realized through clay and plaster, employ this attention to texture to address politics of authenticity and representations of decay.
